Notes: Includes screening for the most common food-borne pathogens: Salmonella, Shigella and Campylobacter. If other pathogens are suspected, such as enterohemorrhagic E.coli, Vibrio, or Yersinia enterocolitica, please order specific cultures for each suspected organism. Clinical Utility: Test is not routinely performed on inpatients after 3 days of admission. New onset of diahrreal illness in such patients is most likely due to other causes, including Clostridium difficile toxin.
