Clinical Utility: The mutation panel of the four mutations (K304E, L59F, R123K, N169D) in Medium Chain Acyl-CoA Dehydrogenase gene and is performed by real-time polymerase chain reaction and detection. The mutation detection rate is estimated to be 86% of disease alleles in Texas population. This test was developed and its performance characteristics determined by the Laboratory Service Section at DSHS. The test has not been approved or cleared by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Test results should not be used to diagnose but should be interpreted in the context of the clinical findings, family history, and other laboratory data. Errors in the interpretation of results may occur if information given to the laboratory is inaccurate or incomplete.
