General Information
Alias: Automated Cytomorphology, Image Cytometry, Image Morphometry, Quantitative Image Analysis, Prognostic Biomarkers, DNA Ploidy
Performed: Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm
Turn Around Time: 10 business days
CPT Codes: 88361 (per quantitative IHC), 88358 (DNA Ploidy), 88360 (each semiquantitative IHC), or 88342 (per qualitative IHC)
Performed By: Cytology
Notes: Parkland Cytology performs the following Biomarker Panels: Invasive Breast Panel, DCIS Breast Panel, Basal Breast Panel, HNPCC Panel (Colon and Endometrial Carcinomas), and the IHC portion of the Molar Pregnancy Panel. (See test details of each panel by panel name) All other IHC biomarker tests and DNA Ploidy analysis are sent to a Referral Lab.
Clinical Utility: DNA Ploidy analysis and IHC Biomarker Panels can be used to assess tumor tissue for prognosis and/or in the guidance of treatment and patient management.

DNA Content and IHC Biomarkers
|
DNA Content is performed by DNA ploidy analysis and provides a DNA Index with various result ranges. IHC Biomarkers are immunohistochemistry slides interpreted by visual or computer-assisted quantitative analysis, depending on the test(s) requested.

A tissue block or 4µ thick, unstained, positively charged slides are acceptable for IHC testing. A tissue block or 2, 6µ thick, unstained, positively charged slides are acceptable for DNA Ploidy analysis. Contact Parkland Cytology to determine the number |

For predictive biomarkers (ER, PR, Her2) the cold ischemic time (time of removal from the body to the time in formalin) should be ≤ 1 hour. The time in formalin (fixation) should be 6-48 hours. Decalcification in strong acids should not be used.
A tissue block or 4µ thick, unstained, positively charged slides are acceptable for IHC testing. A tissue block or 2, 6µ thick, unstained, positively charged slides are acceptable for DNA Ploidy analysis. Contact Parkland Cytology for number of slides needed for test(s) requested. A corresponding surgical pathology report is required for testing.

Specimens (block or unstained slides) should be kept at ambient temperature (20°-25°C) during transport to the lab. Specimens fixed using a fixative other than formalin are not acceptable for testing. If unstained slides are provided for testing, slides |
