Notes: Reflex serotonin-release assay (SRA) testing will be performed for all patients with heparin-induced platelet (HIT) antibody test results between optical density (OD) values of >= 0.4 and <2.0 units or with equivocal test findings.
Clinical Utility: Laboratory Developed Test (LDT). Modifications of this laboratory test, and its performance characteristics have been determined by the Parkland Laboratory in a manner consistent with CLIA requirements. Modifications of this assay have NOT been cleared or approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The Parkland Laboratory is regulated by CLIA and has been deemed as qualified to perform high-complexity testing. This test is intended for clinical use and results of this assay should not be considered as investigational or as research.
Unacceptable Conditions: Hemolyzed, lipemic or icteric specimens, Heparin contaminated specimens
