Notes: If abnormal levels of non A1c hemoglobin are detected, a Hemoglobin A1c Quantitative test will be ordered instead. If abnormal A1c hemoglobin levels are still detected, a Hgb A1c Alternate Method will be ordered and sent out for testing. There will be a delay in TAT if any of the previous situations occur.
Clinical Utility: Common drugs at therapeutic concentrations do not interfere with the test. No significant interference is observed from the following endogenous substances up to the stated concentrations lipemia (intralipid) up to 6000 mg/dL, conjugated bilirubin up to 60 mg/dL, unconjugated bilirubin up to 60 mg/dL, glucose up to 2000 mg/dL, rheumatoid factor 750 IU/mL, and total protein 21 g/dL.
Unacceptable Conditions: MAP microtainer tubes are unacceptable specimen containers.
