Turn Around Time: Med Emerg: 2 hours; Routine: 4 hrs
CPT Codes: 80162
Performed By: Chemistry
Clinical Utility:
Toxic >2.50 ng/mL Monitor therapy, Determine compliance and Assess toxicity.
Clinical features of toxicity are often non-specific. Common features include lethargy, confusion and gastrointestinal symptoms (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal pain). Visual effects (blurred vision, color disturbances, haloes) are less common.
Digibind interferes with this assay. Serum from patients on Digibind is not suitable for testing as Digibind falsely elevates Digoxin levels.
