Notes:
1. Samples from Patients taking immunosuppressive drugs can yield poor resolution.
2. Blast cells can interfere with test results.
Clinical Utility: Helper/inducer T lymphocytes (CD3+CD4+) percentages are useful in monitoring HIV infected patients. Patients with HIV typically exhibit a steady decrease of (CD3+CD4+) T lymphocytes as the infection progresses.
Unacceptable Conditions: Aliquoted specimen, ACD or heparinized blood. MAP microtainer tubes are unacceptable specimen containers.
