Alias: Cannabinoids, Marijuana, THC (Tetrahydrocannabinoid)
Performed: Sun-Sat
Turn Around Time: 2-4 days
CPT Codes: 80349 (Alt code: G0480)
Performed By: Referral Lab
Notes: The drug detected with this test is, 11-Nor-9-carboxy-THC, a metabolite of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Detection suggests use of, or exposure to, a product containing THC. This test cannot distinguish between prescribed or non-prescribed forms of THC, nor can it distinguish between active or passive use.
Clinical Utility: Preferred test to follow-up presumptive screen results. The 9-carboxy THC metabolite can be detected in urine for several weeks. Normalization of results to creatinine concentration can help document elimination or suggest recent use, when specimens are collected at least one week apart.
